Dick was from Munnsville NY, and this car was built by Ray “Dutch” Hedger, whose brother Randy was a two time track champion at Shangri-La. Dick raced primarily on asphalt later in his career, and was a solid runner at Shangri-La especially in his Rabbit bodied 16. He was also known for offering up homemade (and incendiary hot) pickles to people in the pits after the races, mostly to see their reactions. Dick had an awesome sense of humor and was a great guy. He passed away several years ago due to complications from MS. |
