12/06/04 | Chip Johnson | Anyone remember when Billy lapped the field in this car (the Deblasio #5) during a 100-lapper? I think he passed (again) the 2nd place car of Carl Reynolds on the 98th lap. What a thrill. I don't know of anyone ever doing that, nor do I expect to see it ever again...Long live the Flemington dirt and Billy Pauch! |
12/11/04 | D.J. Everett | I remember that night as well. Funny thing about it was that Billy said in the post race interview that he was taking it easy on the right rear tire and was just cruising around and only started to drive hard when he had Carl Reynolds in his sights on the 98th lap and passed him. He noticeably had plenty of tread on the right rear after the race. If he drove hard for all 100 laps, think he could have lapped the field twice? D.J. Everett - Mooresville, NC |
02/12/05 | Bob G | Track reporter Joe Connelly says Carl Reynolds never finished second in any kind of race at Flemington. Joe Connelly said CD had Billy covered that day in this Show Car Hauser #61, undefeated at Fonda coming into this early season Syracuse qualifier at Flemington until breaking an axle coming off turn two and handing the lead over to Billy case closed! |
03/02/05 | Fred Voorhees | It most certainly was Carl Reynolds that Billy passed near the end of that event. I remember as if it were yesterday, AND, I have it on tape. It was Carl that finished second after Billy passed him to lap the entire field. |
