You gotta love this picture. Dirt tires at an asphalt track. The long tow from Lawrenceville, NJ with a single axle open trailer with not even a tire rack. I'm thankful to have enjoyed this era of auto racing first hand. |

If I remember correctly, this trailer tilted to get the race car unloaded. I also now appreciate my time spent at Windsor, Flemington, Reading, and the rest of the tracks during the 60s and 70s. Magical times for the sport. |

Growing up in New England, I remember attending the early spring "Run What Ya Bring" shows at Stafford. They were precursors to the Spring Sizzler. And they were wild. Asphalt mods, super mods, sprints, full-bodied late models, dirt mods. I don't recall the Z1, but I remember Cagle in one of his sedans finishing in the top five. Crazy stuff. |
