| 01.17.11 | Dennis Bender | When I was a young photo-journalist, Ron flipped out of the 3rd & 4th turns at Reading. Understanding he was a double leg amputee in the Viet Nam war I don't think I sent it to any auto racing papers, but I do have the flip series in negatives. I think he came back to race the next week at the fairgrounds. |

I was a Ron Slade fan, he really had determination when he raced and he did a good job of racing with the big boys. He almost won a race at Bridgeport in '76 but he broke an axle late in the race and did not finish. He was a smooth driver who always took care of his equipment. |
