Comments: Comment from Dave: Thought you might be interested in The Smithburg Speedway (located just outside of Freehold).

My father, Francis Reynolds, tell me that after the war a group of guys started racing in the field behind where the pizza parlor is (was?) in Smithburg, NJ. They only ran a couple of weeks, but what I think is interesting is that the vehicle involved in this wreck is a truck. And people thought truck racing was new. My father took the picture and my guess would be the late 40's.  Don't know any of the drivers.  Thanks David Reynolds

04/23/06 3-Wide It's hard to tell, but in the one picture it looks like it might say "Oak Tree Charlie" under the passenger side window and "Fleetwood Chain Saws" on the quarter.
