from Dave: Thought you might be interested in The Smithburg Speedway
(located just outside of Freehold). My father, Francis Reynolds, tell me that after the war a group of guys started racing in the field behind where the pizza parlor is (was?) in Smithburg, NJ. They only ran a couple of weeks, but what I think is interesting is that the vehicle involved in this wreck is a truck. And people thought truck racing was new. My father took the picture and my guess would be the late 40's. Don't know any of the drivers. Thanks David Reynolds |

04/23/06 | 3-Wide | It's hard to tell, but in the one picture it looks like it might say "Oak Tree Charlie" under the passenger side window and "Fleetwood Chain Saws" on the quarter. |
