Comments: Comment from Jack:  Here's a shot of my old HO racetrack pits. I made all those bodies on an old Mattel VacUForm toy. Made my own molds for a sedan by adding sedan shape to an old coupe body. Sold 'em to the racers in the neighborhood for under a buck painted.

I walked into my parents old house basement the other day and the basement smell reminded me of the HO racing days.  I could almost hear the sounds of Aurora HO cars racing around. We kept point standings.  My cousin used to cheat when we had a caution. You had to yell STOP when you crashed, but he always held down the throttle a little longer.  So, I rigged up four knife switches that were at your controller area. Every crash you hit the switch and it killed the power for the whole track. Cured the cheating.

We were hardcore into it. We would get together and have a couple 100 lappers in a day.

Later, I'd hop on my Orange Krate bike (wish I kept that, sold it for $25, now they go for $800-$1200) and we'd go race bikes around the back oval shaped driveway and alley.  It was a fun time.

05.05.09 Brian Deffler Miss my Orange Crate too!!!! Simple times, didn't take much to have fun. Miss racing my HO cars too!!!! Tom Heister in Pa has a wonderful program. Well, thanks for bringing back my childhood.
01.27.15 Scott Snyder Me, and a couple of my buddies used to Race at Jack’s track. We would sit in study hall in junior high school and make plans as to which Body we would buy next from Jack. I believe he sold them for 40 cents each!! That was a bargain. I laughed out loud when I read Jack’s comment about the “Cheating” I won’t mention his cousin Dave’s name ,but, I can still hear the accusations! Those were some real fun Friday nights at  Kromer’s house. His parents were always very nice and accepting of us teenage would be Racers.

Sincerely missing the Old Days, Especially Sunday Nights at Nazareth Speedway

Scott: It warmed my heart to read your comments. I’m so glad those little race track gatherings meant something to you guys. That was so cool back then. Did I sell those Vacu-Form HO coupes for only 40 cents? I knew I practically gave them away. Maybe something like 25 cents for an unpainted one and 40 cents for a painted one. I forget. The nice comments about my parents, really mean a lot to me. They were good people. I miss them.

I’m proud of you Scott. You were the only one that raced at my little HO track, that was brave and determined enough to go on to race real cars, on dirt.

Note to fellow 3 Widers: For those of you that don’t know, Scott Snyder went on to race Super Sportsman cars, at the famous Silver Spring Speedway in central PA. The records show that Scott won there twice. Not many people can say they won there. That was hard to do, with such big fields of cars there weekly.

Really proud of you Scott and thanks again for commenting on my little HO track.

From the Silver Spring all time win list.

Jack, You should post one of these pictures on the Message Board, to see how many “Drivers” can be identified in your Infield.

Racing at your track is one of many fond memories  growing up in Nazareth. Too bad we can’t go back.  And, Thank You for the Nice words about my Super Sportsman Racing. I really appreciate it.
