I bought this car from George Smith, Statewide, to backup for Jim Horton
(Jimmy's dad) when Jim was running Sammy that year with the Cadillac #33
(1979) Jim didn't get it done on time for the early season, so I ran Flem
and EWS with mine (Sammy driving.) I had the number "33" so when Jim
got the Cadillac done, he used my # 33, because my car was running top 5 in
points at Flemington (I remember a 2nd there once.) They transferred
my points over to Jim and I had Sammy drive the car at EWS. When I got the car, I changed the Weld inboard springs over to torsion bars and outboarded the front shocks, so it was a Weld car look, but with different suspension altogether... When it was owned by the Statewide Racing Team, Billy Osmun, Gary Balough, Jimmy Horton, and even Rich Evans ran it once at Syracuse. I sold it to Mick Wasitowski. |
