10.11.15 CHARIOT LVI

Ted Banasky's #156 1940 Ford was originally Joe McKinney's #16, driven mostly by Dick Hirsch. The #16 lives on used by Tony Sesley for his race cars as Joe and Tony are good friends. The top B&W photo shows Ted in Victory Lane after a win. I always find it amusing that many Victory Lane photos show the graffiti of "THE BUMS". Was it planned or just dumb luck? To me, it captures the character and legend of Weissglass Speedway.

These photos show early versions of the 156. Later on it was a darker blue with more white trim. For the last 2 years of operation, Ted lowered and reskinned the car with a first gen. Firebird body, dark blue with the black vinyl roof. I remember seeing the old sedan body sitting in the yard in Bulls Head. The 156 was powered by a small block Chevy and was quick. Ted won many features and maybe a championship or two, not sure. Thanks for sharing the photos and the memories.
