I have this photo hanging on the wall  in my Weissglass Speedway museum. Bruno Brackey gave it to me many years ago. This particular race was a photo finish, dead heat, main event, in 1953,with Frankie Schnieder in the Bolander owned #96, Don Stumph on the outside, and Bruno, in the #70 in third place. He was very proud of this photo and his third place finish with the best of the best..

They were in the Modified Division with overhead valve engines. Bruno was in the Sportsman Division with a Flathead.  His original number was #7 that he ran at Roosevelt Stadium where he was the Sportsman Champion in 1954 and 1955. He gave me both of those trophies that I treasure to this day.. He told me his #7  was from a sprint car driver that he admired in Florida were he lived for a while after coming back from WW2  where he served in the South Pacific, and where met his wife Carolyn there. Does anybody know who this sprint car driver could have been?

I have my Weissglass Speedway Reunion party at my place every year, the second Sunday in June. Any kind of Race cars and race car people welcome, check out my website at: www.weissglassspeedway.com .   Thanks so much, George LeBlanc.

The 96 looks like a car Dutch Hoag drove?

10.27.12 3Wide I think you are correct Ed.  When Ken provided the photo he mentioned that it was Frankie in Hoag's car.
