Comments: Comment from Joe:  Two summers ago there was a big vintage day at Thompson Speedway in Connecticut. This car was there but I don't think it ever came off the trailer. Unfortunately, I was unable to track down the owner.  I would love to find out if anyone knows whose car this is and if the owner is willing to sell it. It is a great looking car.

03/26/07 Bob K i believe the car runs with the STAR vintage club. Senior tour auto racers. They have a web site.  Maybe you could make contact there?
03/27/07 DOUG M. THIS HAS TO BE THE XL-1 THAT RICK MAURIELLO RAN AT WALL IN THE EARLY YEARS OF THE "MAD" DIVISION. IT WAS A PAUL BLAIR BUILT CAR - RICK RAN IT THEN SOMEHOW IT ENDED UP IN NEW YORK. THE GUY IN N.Y. SOLD IT TO A GUY IN LONG BRANCH N.J. WHO RAN THE CAR IN THE N.Y. VINTAGE CLUB WITH A DIFFERENT PAINT JOB AND NUMBER. THE GENTLEMAN FROM LONG BRANCH SOLD THE CAR AND I LOST TRACK AFTER THAT. BUT IT LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE BOUGHT THE CAR AND WENT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL MAURIELLO PAINT SCHEME. NICE CAR !!!
03/28/07 Michael Kent This car was on ebay last summer.   It was located in Conn. @ that time.
04/08/07 Tom Berry This car is owned by Steve Parker from New England and he does run with the STARs group.
05/29/07 Rich Hawkes If indeed this is the car that Rick ran, then the history of this car is:

Built by Paul Blair. It was Blue and White #0 and sat outside his house on Route 9 in Toms River. My brother Jim Hawkes purchased this car and ran it in the sportsman division at Wall Stadium, Atlantic City and even once on dirt at East Windsor. The car was repainted orange with a white zero after a bout with the fence at AC.

There was so much bondo in the doors, the car must have lost 100 pounds lol! Later the car was renumbered to #61 and back to blue and white. I am not sure of the date it was sold to Rick. I have some pictures of it new, somewhere along with his (Jims) other cars.

I really need to dig up the photos I have and send them in. Many Wall favorites!

Hope this information may add to the history

Regards
Rich Hawkes
