Car #: #2
Driver (s) : Woody Nyce
Location: Louden, NH
Date: 2004
Photographer: Pam Nyce
Photo provided by: Pam Nyce
Comments: Woody Nyce's "new" vintage car.  Many know Woody's #1 coupe, but this year Woody brought the #2 up to Louden.  Both Woody and wife Pam are great supporters of the history of the sport and have helped the Vault out on many occasions.

I was looking through an old Nazareth program the other day and I think I saw this car....   Hopefully you guys can get the rest of the story for us...

09/10/04 John Mc Looks like Randy Bok's #2.
09/10/04 Gil Halpin I believe that this fine machine duplicates the Red #2 Falcon bodied modified of Randy Bok who was a regular on the OCFS - Nazareth circuit in the mid- to late 1970's  Best Regards Gil Halpin
09/18/04 PAM NYCE THIS IS RANDY BOK'S ORIGINAL 78 AND 79 SPORTSMAN CHAMPIONSHIP CAR.    WOODY REBUILT THE CAR IN THE WINTER OF 2004.  WE DO HAVE ONE PHOTO PROVIDED BY CRAIG FORD WHO WOODY BOUGHT THE CAR FROM.  ALSO HAVE A NAZARETH PROGRAM FROM MID 79 WITH A PICTURE OF THE CAR IN IT.
09/18/04 3-Wide Good to see an original car saved from there usual fate!
01/01/06 John Vogt I have some pictures and programs of this car. I haven't been to a Vintage meeting in a while. What is their mailing address??
01/01/06 3-Wide Do you mean GSVSCC or Woody Nyce's?
12.08.12 Keith I seen the picture of the car in your site. I was one of the crew back when randy campaign the car. Good to see it still around and do you still have it. Back then I was known as the Outlaw and may name is Keith.
06.17.12 Miss ELo My father and I were looking over your site and come across some errors in captions on a few photos. One of which he raced and owned. Below is the correct info for this picture

Randy Bok raced the Championship Red #2 from 78-79 then sold the car to Doug Handwerk, whom is a Nazareth native.  Doug Handwerk went on to Race the championship car from 80-89 in the North West Lower Michigan area with the Northern Michigan Modified Assoc.

The car pictured here was the following car built by Randy Bok NOT the 78-79 Championship Car. This can be determined by the width of the frame. The #2 pictured is 2 inches wider then the 78-79 championship car.

Doug bought the championship care from Randy when it was outlawed due to narrower frame specifications in effect starting 1980. Doug Handwerk and the 78-79 championship car continued a winning streak at race ways such as Merit Speedway, M113 Speedway now known as Cherry Speedway, Winston Speedway, Chrystal Speedway, Thunderbird Speedway, Onaway Speedway, Northern Michigan Raceway. Doug Handwerk and the 78-79 Championship car still hold the track record at Merit Speedway and M113 Speedway now Cherry Speedway.

To add to the comments by Miss Elo:  I was the crew chief for Doug Handwork for several years, and here are some photos of that car as we campaigned it.  The first photo is of me winning the mechanic’s race in 1982, the second is Doug posing with the car in either 1983 or 1984.
