07/21/03 | Dave Spurlin | Not sure who was driving the #92 but he's running much better now! He was definitely having fun! |
07/22/03 | Kevin Mc | Drivers name was John Kurkowski. Actually he had 2 cars like this. He ran at EWS and then occasionally @ Wall Stadium in a completely different car. Both were hopelessly out of date. He usually would start at the back in his heats and when the leaders were about to lap him, he would pull off. At Wall Stadium he usually would make the feature because in the 1980's Wall Stadium almost never drew a full field of modifieds. He'd take the green and run 5-10 laps and pull off to stay out of leaders way, and collect last place money. Hey he probably broke even. Not a bad way to spend your Saturdays! At East Windsor he usually didn't qualify as they were still bringing 40 mods a week back then |
07/22/03 | 3-Wide | I remember it now Kev and your right about the less than stellar performance of the old #92, but I do remember one night at EWS when he did qualify and I think he damn near got a standing ovation. Like we said before, the Vault isn't just about the big winners of the sport, but it is about everyone who helped make the show the most important thing in many of our lives growing up. John has a secure spot here in the Vault for his efforts! |
03/11/04 | Jerry | the car at wall was known as the turtle!
however i remember a cpl of nites when he had decent tires or whatever he did on the car at actually ran decent and did'nt pull on the infield |
