02/11/06 Frank Degnan The models by Clark Renninger are really great! Can he tell us where to find the tires and hubs that he used on the three models? The Reutimann tires and hubs seem to be a little different from the Coffin and Tobias tires and hubs. Also, how did he do the lettering? Will Clark have these cars at the Reading Show?
02/11/06 Scott Pacich Frank, the rear tires on Buzzie's car look like the RR's from the Monogram Sprint car. The hubs on that car are (I think) the rears from the Tobias type models. The other tires look like the LR from the Monogram sprint car kit, with resin hubs. The LR is also available in a resin cast from a guy named Karl Stark http://public.fotki.com/chucky151/ Good rims are also available from www.fredsresinworkshop.com .

That's what they look like to me at least.
02/14/06 Clark Renninger The numbers and the lettering are hand painted. I used a '40 Ford body for the Tobias 17 and '37 Chevy bodies for the other two. Scott is right on with the tires and wheels. I'm using 3/4 ton wheels from Fred's Resin Workshop on the next models that I build. I wish I could find authentic dirt tires. If I had a way to display these models at the reunion, I would.
02/17/06 John Kase I understand Clark has a beautiful Jimmy Keppley #59 somewhere in his past. Also, Clark is pretty handy illustrating these old classics, maybe we could see some Red Coffin art work!!
06/29/07 Ray Check out three different widths of cross cut tires from Norman Veeber at Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. They're the best vintage tires I have seen.
