Wall Auto Wreckers

In the 50's, 60's and 70's, the stock car owners best resource for parts was the auto salvage yard. Whether you were starting to build a car or trying to keep the one you had running, the yard was your main source.

Speed shops and mail order was starting to gain business with specialty parts. But no matter if you were Modified, Hobby, Late Model, Open Wheel, Drag Car, Hot Rod or even an independent on the NASCAR Grand National circuit, you spent time and money at a yard.

Pictured here is the Wall Auto Wreckers located on Route 71. Even across the street there looks to be a good source of cars and parts.

Found this pic. Boy does it bring back memories. This is my families place opened in 1936 by Edward A. Palmer Sr. His boys all worked there for 50 years. All fought in WW 2, came home started families and worked in the yard till retiring in the 80’s. I worked there in the 70’s for 5 years before moving on. My brother and cousins worked there too. Its long gone now but it was the focal point of the family for 40 years. I have great memories from there, and wanted to take it over but it never worked out that way. I have this place in my blood along with all my other relatives. Im 60 myself now, but this picture takes me right back to almost seeing myself in it. Thanks.

Great pic.  I am the son of one of the Palmers. Worked there 5 years in 70s. I can see myself there looking at it.
