Senior Moment From Russ Dodge: Real Colorful Car
The white snow this area has seen over the past few weeks
made me look for something bright and colorful. After spending the last two
Moments in the teens and twenties with old black and white pictures, this
color photo by Bob Farley should brighten your day. Photo notes tell us this
is the car of Doug Benjamen taken at the Horne in 1962. |

02.17.11 | Todd 1962 | This car also ran at Arlington and Rhienbeck speedways in N.Y. '' The Polka-dot 50'' |
02.17.11 | Dave Blake | Doug Benjamin raced with the SNYRA at the
Danbury Fairgrounds, as well as other tracks. He was well known for his
"Wonder Bread" paint jobs. I believe there is a video out there of Doug
rolling this sedan at Danbury. He won one feature with the SNYRA, in 1954. Benjamin ran a garage in Lake Carmel, NY.Doug was killed in an accident while returning home after a rain out. I have seen pics of Doug's car at Orange County, Langhorne, Lebanon Valley, NY. and other tracks. |
