Comments: My favorite Barry Schenck line after realizing that he needed the crew to come back to the shop an extra night to work on the car...  "Kid... can you be back out here tomorrow night?....  I'll give you a note if you need it....."

Anyone who knew Barry will tell you a couple of their favorite comments from Barry through the years.  He had that kind of personality.  Funny when the time was right..., helpful to many a young racer looking for advice...,  but serious when he had to be to make the kind of decisions needed to field some of the nicest cars to be found at the speedway from the late 70's through the 90's.

Pictured above in front of his immaculately prepared "A" car, Barry had a well deserved reputation for having great equipment.  Many remember when Barry first came on the scene with the "Maverick Grabber Blue" painted #A and #B driven by Chuck Ancelo and Rich Varone.  In future years, Barry's cars would be driven by Larry Kline, Newt Hartmen, Tom Hager, Phil Meisner, Randy Wolfe, Al Michalchuk, Danny Klockner, and Barry's son Billy Schenck.

Barry was one of a kind.

05/10/05 Kevin AH - NOW THIS IS A MODIFIED!!
05/10/05 3-Wide Actually, this might have been Larry Kline's small block Sportsman...   but I know exactly what you mean....  Stock body, combination of stock parts, homemade parts and a few speed parts....  back when cars, drivers and owners had their own identity.  It's hard to see in this shot, but this car had the little chrome bull dogs on the top of the shock mounts.
05/10/05 DOM RAGNO I WAS PARTNERS WITH BARRY FROM 1980 TO 1984.   I SUPPLIED ALL THE MOTORS IN THE A CARS IN THOSE YEARS.  ALL OF OUR CARS AT THAT TIME WHERE BURNETT CARS WITH MY J AND J BALLANCER ENGINES.
05/10/05 3-Wide Who drove at that time Dom - Hartman? Hager? Meisner?
05/10/05 Walter Onora Actually, Tom Hager only drove the "A" car once. Also won the feature race at Flemington. Do not remember the length of the feature.
05/11/05 Nick Leach Big B was one of a kind for sure.   Uncle Barry I called him....   Wow, many nights at Sunny's Farm...  There is still a guy in Delaware wondering how his dumpster caught fire one night on the way to Delaware.  .Many nights at Weiner King after Flemington with Big B and the boys.  Miss those trips to Delaware with B and he is missed every day.   Thanks for the pic Bill.
05/11/05 3-Wide Yea...  One of the many benefits of crewing on the A Car on Friday Nights at East Windsor was the visit to Mastori's in Bordentown after the races were over!
05/11/05 DOM RAGNO TOM HAGER WON OPENING DAY 1981 HE LAPPED ALL BUT 2ND PLACE GLENN FITZCHARLES AND HE WAS SO FAR BEHIND HE THOUGHT HE HAD WON.  WE HAD RANDY WOLFE, BILLY OSMUN , TIMMY PAUCH , PHIL MEISNER, NEWT HARTMAN, LARRY KLINE , AND MANY OTHER GOOD DRIVERS.
05/11/05 3-Wide Heard that Tom would have lost his sponsorship on his other car if he had stayed with the A car....  (Union 76 sponsor???)  I guess that's why he never drove it again, even though he was so impressive in his initial ride in the A.
05/12/05 Dom Ragno THAT'S CORRECT -  HE WOULD HAVE LOST HIS 76 SPONSOR .
05/14/07 Zsolnay In 1980 Hager and Kline exchanged twin 20 wins. In the first 20 lapper Hager, in the "A", came in first with Kline, in the #74, second. Hagger passed Kline coming off 4th corner for the win. In the second twin 20 Larry came in first and Tom finished second.
03/11/08 BOBBY FIORELLO MANY TIMES AT THE TRACK I WONDER OVER FROM THE K-3 TEAM TO CHAT WITH B,,  HE AND LES HAD A LITTLE RIVAL GOING ON BETWEEN LES AND VARONE,,  BOTH DRIVERS WOULNT GIVE AN INCH,,WHICH MADE IT SO INTERESTING,  B,,WOULD SAY,,THATS RACING,,  A GREAT GUY AND FUNNY WITH HIS COMMENTS,,THANX ALOT B FOR ALL THE MEMORIES,,,
