Comments: Comment from Bob: Here's a shot I took of MeMe Desantis powering the Carl Harz Furniture Big Block Chevy powered Gambler Chassis sprint car into the 3rd turn at Williams Grove Speedway in April 1984. I thought this would be a good follow up to your shot of MeMe in the Harz modified at Bridgeport Speedway.

12/04/06 Russ Dodge Many present day sprint fans don't realize that Joe Harz fielded modifieds before starting his duration as a prominent sprint car owner.  His first modified was an Olsen Pinto, tan in color and was driven by Elmer, N.J's Lee Elwell.

Later after MeMe took over the ride, a sprint car was added. This was pre-410 sprint racing and the same big block could be used in the sprinter as in the modified. Based on how fresh the motor was, the team would decide whether to run it in the modified at Bridgeport on a Saturday night or at Lincoln in the sprinter!

Joe's equipment was alway in the chase where ever it appeared which was proven by his numerous championships. Thanks, Russ Dodge
12/05/06 Gregory Saeger Those big block sprints were awesome. 83, 84 and 85 seasons were some of the best out in central pa. I bet those big blocks if still in action today might not have sky rocketed out of control like the 410's have. Thanks WoO for taking the thunder off the speedways in central pa. Now we have to listen to Chain Saws set on kill with today's motors. Classic shot of Meme.  He can still get it done 20 years later.
