From Greg Collins:  “March 8, 1970, opening day of the 1970 season in the northeast.  Heading down the frontstretch that’s Ray Neary in the 21 who won the 30-lap feature that day, and Jackie Hamilton in the 6 who broke an axle while leading with two laps to go, had to slow his pace and finished third.  Ray received $500 for the win, Jackie received $325 for third.”
