Comments: | Comment From Russ: The Mushroom Special comes out of the dark! Once again, Bob Farlee caught this beautiful shot, the Mushroom Special, driven by Ken Wismer, at Middletown, New York in 1962. A much prettier hauler than the one pulling into Alcyon in the mid-fifties. As memory recalls, this was one of the earlier haulers dedicated in design and paint, to carry a race car. Because it was so neat looking, it left a lasting impression. It sat much higher than the ramp trucks of the late 60's on. Isn't this unit still around today for vintage events? Thanks, Russ Dodge |

05/22/05 | Warren Wetzel | My brother Dave Wetzel currently owns both the car and truck. Both are restored. The coupe is in the museum up at Mahoning Speedway and the truck is still used occasionally for hauling. In fact next week it will be used to haul a '37 Plymount coupe out of a junkyard. Thanks, Warren Wetzel |
