07/17/04 | Tom Bilger | One of my greatest joys in life was to watch Otto wheel Sonny Dornberger's #999 around Alcyon Speedway in Pitman, New Jersey. |
08/24/04 | Jim Murrow | Otto Harwi started out as a flat track motorcycle racer, (raced on dirt
oval tracks), so the transition to modifieds was fairly easy for him. He was a
daredevil type driver, like McLaughlin and Tasnady, and so, a thrill to watch. Oddly enough, after Jackie McLaughlin left the famous Case Tractor painted #300 car, Otto drove it for a while, and then Otto was killed a few months after McLaughlin, in 1964. Two greats gone in a few months. |
09/28/04 | Ralph J. Richards, Jr. | Otto Harwi was killed at Orange County Fairgrounds, NY on May 16, 1964 and Jackie died on August 23, 1964 at Nazareth Speedway, PA. So jack died 3 months after Otto. |
