02/28/04 | James Kelleher | Richie Massing of Milltown, N.J. |
02/28/04 | 3-Wide | Thanks Jim - A Stan Fan reminded me that it was Massing - not Massey last week at the Reading Show and I forgot to change it... |
12/14/04 | DON WORTH | I REMEMBER RICHIE RUNNING AT WALL STADIUM. WAS ALSO A EARLY FAVORITE OF MINE. |
09/15/06 | George Kurowski | Yea I was there and a crew member of Dick Barney's and at the time.
Co-owner named Hoyt Morrison put the rear end gears in backwards and Massing blew
it up after just a couple warm up laps. (You could hear the car screaming as he was
winding it up you and would have thought that Richie could tell by looking at the tach but
he didn't and blew the motor. After that we always double checked the gears to make sure which one was on top and which one was on the bottom. I know cause I was there and started changing the gears after that. |
09/15/06 | 3-Wide | Not sure if it was the same in the 70's, but I always could remember "S.O.B"... as in Son of a B**tch that gear oil is hot! (S.O.B. also meant "Small on Bottom" as in put the smaller of the two gears on the bottom.) |
