Freddie White at Orange County in the mid 80s. Freddie was still running his black and purple coupe as late as ’82, them came out with this car the next season. (I’m pretty sure the coupe was on a 70s Tobias frame, and this may well have been the same frame with a (slightly) more modern body on it. He ran this car as late as ’87 in this configuration before quietly fading away. Although his equipment was hopelessly outdated, he was there on a pretty steady basis and never got in the way. He even managed to qualify at least a couple of times (mostly by attrition) and the crowd loved it. Sadly he passed away a couple years ago. |
