I probably met Charlie Cregar in 1963 or '64. Marge and Jerry Cervenka used to take this 10 year old kid to the pits after the Flemington races. Charlie was very personable "fun" and very interesting. He was obviously great with kids cause I was a kid and he won me over. He used to teach me the "boy scout handshake", then thereafter he would ALWAYS greet me with a hearty hello and offer his hand for the boy scout handshake. Program Dynamics shows Charlie Cregar with two wins at Flemington, the last on 6-8-63.  I believe he ran some NASCAR races at Daytona.
