New Egypt Speedway "Off Track" Photos
June 14th 2008

Ron Jon Koczon brought his Modified "up close and personal" for fans to see.

Ron Jon made sure no one was disappointed as he refused to leave even though mod warm ups were only minutes away!

Strong running Bobby Sandt Jr. took the win in the Rookie Feature.

Office Meeting.

Crew adjusts the Kanutter Valve and the Finnagin pins on the #8F Modified!

Second generation racer Stan Frankenfield gets ready to roll out for heat race action.

I'll put money down that out of all those in attendance last night, "Ice Cream" Johnny has been to more races than all!

Brian Ludwig was where he needed to be when the #11 and #06 got physical...  Great Outlaw Stock Feature!

"Team 94" puts the lid back on after passing tech...

'Been that kind of year for Chad Barney so far in '08. Look for Chad to have a strong 2nd half in the Barney's Tire Center #84.

Robbie Nixon returned to his open wheel roots!

Brad Freeman's #111 on the business end of the wrecker...

Tad Cox had no choice but to go up and over another competitor during the heat with the result being a chipped rear.

Snuggin' things up on the Martz #3.

"So that's how they work on those things..."

Time to make adjustments in preparation for consi...

...Good question!

And Now a Word From The Sponsors:

What's behind the "Landrum Coil Springs" Banner on Billy Bauer's #87 Super Stock?

Billy moved the banner to reveal... what else... more info about Landrum Performance Springs.

Good Marketing Billy Bauer...  Check Out LANDRUM PERFORMANCE SPRINGS...

"oso fresh" on the #88 of Ray Woodall Jr, which we've also seen on the Indy car circuit...

Amwell Auto Body on the 1/4 panel of the #17K

John Grecco General Contractor on the side of the #14 as Willie Osmun and John McClelland talk shop...

Interstate Well & Pump on John Marini's #81X... and...

... we also noticed www.organdonor.gov on the roof.  Great gesture by John to give recognition to this cause...

...Back to the Action...

Remember the old days where you could actually see the engine?  Neat to see the side panels off the #111

Everybody was watching John Romano take the win in the SS Sprint Feature, and we spotted these 3 enjoying the moment!

With lots of help from friends during the week, John Romano and Tony P made it to Victory Lane - with 3Wide on the wing!

Mick Search showers the crowd in victory lane with a little "New Egypt Champagne" after winning the Super Stock Feature.

...speaking of water....  A sudden downpour hit the track during the early going of the modified feature...  Now what???

Well...  with over an hour & a half to go before curfew, and radar looking good...  The call was made for the track crew.

The mix of track clay and the brief shower made for some sloppy going in the pits...  What's going on over there?

Working off sheets of cardboard in the mud, Team #2B was able to repair the brakes and then some...

With the possibility of still running the balance of the mod feature, Stan Frankenfield decided to leave his underoo's on!

The call was made from the pit shack, "If you guys wanna race, we need you on the track."  Bob Hendershot heeds the call.

Many teams loaded up and went home, but a majority of the qualified mod and sportsman feature cars stayed put...

Mr. Bob heads out to help with the track readying process...  Bob was leading the modified main before the rains came.

The track crew and the remaining qualified feature cars do their best to run the track in...

Talk about "Dirty Jobs!"  Rocco was the first to take to the track when the call was made for cars to help out..

When the racing resumed, Frank Cozze found his way around a very fast Bob Drayton for his first win of 2008.

One race left... Tommy Carberry (yellow blur) leads over Rocco Infante (white blur) in the final laps of the Sportsman Feature.

But it was Rocco Infante making the last lap pass to take the win.  Rocco give's the double "2" symbol for "2 in a Row!"

Remember that "Dirty Job" photo above?  Maybe it was karma that the first driver to take to the track to help get the surface race ready, ended up being the last engine running as Rocco drove the JR1 away after celebrating in victory lane.
