| 07/03/08 | Greg Collins | The Tri-State Owners banquet was held on October 30, 1971, at 7:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn West (now the Days Inn & Conference Center) located at Routes 22 and 309, just west of Allentown, PA. I attended that event as a 15 year old and still have my ticket stub (#528) from that evening. It was certainly different seeing my racing heroes wearing suits and ties! I recall sitting wide-eyed at our table when Bobby Pickell stopped by our table to chat. As I recall Will Cagle left the banquet immediately after the awards presentation as he was racing at Middletown the next day in their Eastern States race. |
