Comments: We have all heard of the Verona/McCabe Race Team who Glenn Fitcharles drove for.  We know that it is "Jerry" Verona, but when we ran this for our trivia question we received the first names of Jack, Ray, Dick, Bill and a few others for "McCabe", but I'm thinking that it is Jack.

We believe that at the time of this photo, the team was partnered up with either the Rio Brothers or with Frank Rio as the car in the picture is #R10.

As a side note, notice Howie "The Hat" Cronce in the upper left side of the photo.  Howie ended up piloting a later version of the #R10 and I think had quite a few good runs at Bridgeport.

09/28/05 Terry Ebersole The McCabe of Verona/McCabe was named Jack.  Spent the formative years of my life around those guys.
07/20/06 John Actually, his name was John. Although everyone except me called him "Jack".   I was fortunate enough to call him dad. I've missed him for more than a decade now.

Thank you, 3 wide, for all the pictures... especially this one... that remind me of how great it was to have grown up around dirt track racing. The races meant so much to me as a kid and I keep an Ace Lane, Jr. picture of Glenn and my dad's Gremlin (built by Terry Ebersole Sr.) in my office right next to the pictures of my own kids.

And, yes, Howie did go on to drive the R10 for Frank and Frankie Rio. After my father's wife broke up the race team, I didn't get to spend much time at the races, but I was extremely fortunate to have worked with Howie during the mid-90s when he told me about his days winning races with the Rios @ Grandview. I spoke to Frank and Lois Rio a few years ago and their cars seem to have done wonderfully through the years.

Sorry for the rambling.
