Comments: | One of the best small block racers around from the early 70's right up to what seems like just a few years ago in the #026 at East Windsor. Newt shown above looks like he has his game face on, but it's a game that Newt more often then not came up on the winning side. |

03/23/04 | Dale Stewart | I sat with his family in the fourth turn at Grandview when he was running there late in his career. I can honestly say Newt and his family were some of the nicest people we had the pleasure to sit with. I must also say they took a special liking to Newt and he did not disappoint the fans. |
04/02/04 | BOBBY FIORELLO | THE MASTER OF GOING FASTER IN A SMALL BLOCK NEWT WAS ALWAYS THERE TO HELP,
DISCUSS, OR JUST TO CHAT. WE REALLY HAD ALOT OF RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER EVEN THOUGH I WAS WORKING ON THE K3, I'LL NEVER FORGET WHEN HE JUMPED IN THE K3 JR. WHEN I TOLD LESTER I DIDN'T WANT TO DRIVE ANYMORE, NEWT TOOK THAT RACE CAR RIGHT TO THE FRONT IN A HEARTBEAT.. A LOT OF GREAT MEMORIES OF HIM. I'LL NEVER FORGET...THANX AGAIN NEWT THE TOOT. |
09/28/04 | Ralph J. Richards, Jr. | It is quite evident that the Pete Clark sponsorship of the #026 from the 1950's with Jackie McLaughlin up until the 2002 season at Bridgeport with his grandson driving was a winning car. Newt Hartman won both the Friday AND Saturday night championships at East Windsor the same year driving the #026. That was quite an accomplishment considering the competition at that time. |
