With the tools of the trade strapped to his next, photographer Bob
Sweeten along the frontstretch fence at Bridgeport with drivers Gary Gallub
and other's signing autographs along the frontstrech at Bridgeport.
How fortunate we all are that photographer's like Bob Sweeten pictured above, who long before there was digital... not only captured all the action and the personalities of the day, but who then had to develop everything... and print their shots (where as most digital shot today never makes it to print)... So that here we are decades later... and we get pulled right back in time... Right back to a moment... Maybe it's 1957... or 1968... or 1973.... or in the photo above, sometime in the early 80's... Whenever it was, its the photographer who sees to it that we are transported right back to where we "want" to be... and Bob Sweeten was one of the best. |

10.13.10 | Wayne Heiserman | Hats off to all the great racing photographers. Bob Snyder, Harry Cella, Jack Kromer, Bob Perran, Paul Irving, Bob Sweeten, Ace and so many more. The guys that stayed up til 4:00 in the morning developing photos so that AARN and the other papers had their stuff by Tuesday. Thanks to All these guys and Bob Sweeten and more for preserving "History". I for one am truly thankful and grateful that these dedicated gentlemen love the sport that I love. There should be a racing photo journalist Hall of Fame. |
