Comments: Comment:  For those new to The Vault, and who are maybe not familiar with the term "Double Pick Up", well now you know.  Used for when a car had both front and rearend damage, the method of removing cars proved to be both effective and also somewhat dramatic as it offered announcer Bill Singer to slowly, and dramatically, address us all with something like the following:  "Well, as you can see....  The #24 sustained both front AND rear end damage... requiring a double pickup..."  And then... he'd be quiet so that you could hear the buzz in the stands as the crumpled racer was carried in front of the grandstands, on its way back to the pits where the crew would then have to get creative to figure out how to get what was left of their racer back on the trailer.

I'm not sure if this is the specific accident or not, but I remember Newt Hartman telling me one time that Mark was driving the #24 and that Mark had brought the car into the pits saying that something was wrong with the steering.  After looking the car over, and not being able to find anything, the team sent the #24 back out.... only to have something go wrong with the steering, causing a big crash.  Not sure if this was that time or not, but the good news is that we are pretty sure Mark was ok, but the same could not be said for the #24
