Comments: Comment from Hank Winecker:  This photo was taken on Tuesday night 7-10-1973.  It was the NJ Championship race which had been postponed from the previous Tuesday 7-3-1973 which was rained out.

The top photo is dark but I was always proud of it.  I think I was the only photographer to get that shot.  The drivers were bailing out of their cars due to fire appearing.  The crash occurred early in the 100 lapper due to someone up front spinning and blocking the track.

The #T1 is Jan Opperman I believe, and Frankie Schneider's #2 sedan is on the inside.  I think the light color coupe in the center may be the C&B Engineering #44 of Budd Olsen.

02.15.11 Bob Becker I don't think it was Jan Opperman in the T-1 at Flemington it looks like his name is covered by tape. It may be Joe Conti.
02.17.11 Brett Butler The T1 was being driven by Newt Hartman that night . I have some other pics of that night that I'll try and get your way .
