7/8/09 | George M. Donmoyer | Boy does this bring memories! If you look real close to the
right of Wayne Renninger`s #51 coach you will see a steel loud-speaker pole
this is where the Donmoyer family sat along with the Holderman family (Butch
orange #21). Moms sat about six rows up, us kids sat in the first row . I spent many Saturday nights growing-up leaning against that pole! Watching my dad Georgie Donmoyer, Butch and many other drivers race. We used get dirtier than my dad who wore an open-faced helmet(man were we black!). I can still remember the feature when my dad hit some water dumped on the track in front of us and spun! I think Norm Bealer in the #55 also spun! Then Darryl Amy in the #2 couldn`t avoid them, and wound up going over top of them! Darryl went through the catch fence in the middle of turns 3&4 with front wheels landing in the first row bleachers fortunately nobody was hurt. I have many, many memories of those days! Thank You! very much for creating and maintaining this great web site & page to share comments & pictures. |
