11/06/04 Wayne Urffer One of my Dad's favorites! Hoffman was one of the all time great Hobby
Division drivers at Dorney, winning 9 features in 1963 and 1964 (they started calling them Late Models in 1970). He moved up to the Sportsman ranks in 1965, but as near as I can figure, he never won a Sportman feature at Dorney.
09/01/05 Don Bergstresser Bruno was one of the strong runners at the park. His car always looked great and he was able to run with the best. I must agree with Mr. Urffer, I also can't remember Bruno winning a Sportsman Feature. I wish someone could correct me with that, as I can't believe he didn't. Bruno always had quite a group of people with him and the kids loved him. He seemed to enjoy the attention the kids gave him and Bruno made the time for them.

He had a little restaurant in Allentown with a small model of his car in the window. We would kid him about cooking hot dogs in his radiator. The restaurant is still there and looks the same as it did 30 years ago.

I was thinking about Dorney Park Raceway and when it officially closed. As I started looking at those old photos I was amazed to see my Uncle Bruno Hoffman in #95. This immortalizes him. Sadly my uncle Bruno passed away in 1999, and the Highway Dinerette was closed permanently by my Aunt who couldn't go on without Bruno at her age.
