06.23.12 Ray Lemasters A little more about the #39 and nickname "Orange Crate". I had a nice visit recently with George to get some information from him about his rookie car - I am building a model of it. Story goes:

George picked his trademark car number 39 because his rookie car was a 1939 Ford 4 door sedan. When he was a kid living in Mt. Arlington, he built a soap box car to ride on the hill in front of his house. The wheels he came up with were painted orange when he got them. So....... when George got into racing he named one of cars (not his first) "Orange Crate" and the nickname stuck.
06.24.12 Jerry Wildrick Didn't George have / drive an 'S2' also? I remember him with borth cars at Middletown.
