Comments: Al Whitehouse in the #51 in victory lane.  Albert would go on to become a car owner and from what I can see has been involved in the sport for about 50 years, mostly as a mechanic and/or car owner.

Al owned the #90 maroon little Falcon that was driven on dirt at East Windsor by Lee McBride and on the asphalt at Pleasantville by Bob McCollough.  Al and his wife Lynn also owned a powerful Pinto bodied #90 that would also be driven by Bob McCollough at East Windsor in the modified division around 1974.

In the 90's, Al's daughter Carol became a top runner/feature winner in the Late Model division at East Windsor and also in the Super Stock division at New Egypt Speedway into the 2000's.

Al's son in law Rocco Infante has been a very strong runner at New Egypt for past 2 decades in multiple divisions, and Al's Grandson DJ Ruppert has also found the fast lane around New Egypt...in a sportsman... and yup, it's #90!

My Dad, Carl Ely, lettered this hot rod.  He painted Disney's Pluto (the dog) running with a checkered flag in his mouth on the passenger side.  My dad also lettered hot rods back in the 50s that were built by his brother in law Clyde Kelly and driven by his brother Mel Ely.  Al's wife, Lynn, is my cousin.  Her mom was my dad's sister.  Uncle Mel ran at New Egypt Speedway (back then a 1/4 mile asphalt track) and Arneys Mount Speedway.  A lot of years have passed since those days but it seems like yesterday that Clyde, Mel, and Carl would be tinkering on that hot rod trying to make it run a little quicker.

Al and the late Bob Patterson got me hooked on racing back in the mid sixties. Forty five years later, and I'm still hooked and still friends with the Whitehouses. Life doesn't get any better than that!
