05.27.13 Terry Fick

Do you know what brand this car was?  Looks like a Nance or Tostle.  The Weigert Meat Wagon cars looked like this, he ran Tostle cars for years.

Things you will not see today; the oil tank outboard and an oil cooler.  Today the tank sits next to the pump on the timing cover.  410s with aluminum blocks do not need the extra cooling since AL transfers heat so quickly and a 360 does not generate that much heat.  In addition oil is vastly superior today with the synthetics being able to withstand 300 degrees without breaking a sweat.  Heat the oil to 300 in the car in the pics and the result was a DNF.  My guess, the tank was outboard to shed a few precious degrees from the oil and the cooler, well.
