Marty Little

This photo appears to have been taken post Daytona in '58. Note clean, tight body, full windshield with wiper on left side and Daytona inspection sticker (diamond M) on lower right windshield. Marriott started the final Modified-Sportsman event on the beach 48th in the 71 car field and finished 52nd. Banjo Matthews was the race winner.

What a great photo of a very fine looking racecar. It looks like someone took a lot of time and thought putting this racer together. The full fenders, the neat fitting hood complete with ornament, the smoothed over head lights.  I’m guessing the wiper was for the ocean spray on the old beach course, and the screen over the radiator for  keeping the sand out.  Thank you Russ for sharing these great photos of a very special time in racing history.
