With that in mind, I think this is one of Newt's cars in the sportsman division area of the Flemington pits way back in 1976. |

| 02/26/06 | 3-Wide | I'f this picture is from 1976, I'm thinking that Newt may have already
have made the move to modifieds... but I'm not sure. Mark Hartman definitely
drove the little brown and beige #4 that looked a lot like this car size and body wise,
but I'm wondering if he may also have driven this car once brother Newt stepped up to the
modifeds? On another note, I think that's John Bauer in the black #12+ in the background and maybe Billy Carver Jr. in the beige #1 sedan directly over the roof of the #24. Not sure about the blue car on the truck... |
| 02/27/06 | Rick Shive | This is Mark Hartman's 24.Mark owned it the year before, but for some reason didn't drive.This is from '76,when he won the rookie title,the same year Newt had the Gremlin modified. The next year, Mark drove the Giordano #4,and this car was sold to Charlie Delzotti. |
| 03/04/06 | Paul Garzillo | I'm not sure of the year, but Newt was in this car as a sportsman ride during a Mid-Week Modified show at Flemington. He held off a frustrated Sam Beavers in the Norcia 81 until Newt's battery was 'accidentally knocked out of the car on the last lap coming off of turn 4. Newt's sportsman car ran and bested many modifieds during the mid week events. |
