09/23/07 Bruce Thomas I like the 3wide insignia on the trailer in the background ..lol   Didn't remember there being a vault back then, boy where was I, and all this time i never noticed it :)
09/23/07 3-Wide Well... You'll find us in a lot of places but unfortunately its out of necessity.  You see, the internet has become the wild, wild west where anything goes and nobody bothers to worry about much...

For example:
There are many sites out there that will accept photos from anyone who emails them and then will post them without providing the origin of the photo.  That means if a person sends me the digital image of lets say one of their personal photos of car 'X", and if I just post it on my site...  either the person who runs the other site, or anyone could then lift the photo, and post it on their site as if it was there photo all along.

...and then there's a guy on ebay who sells the #'s and decals for models and continues to swipe photos off our site to post with his ebay ad so that he can sell his stickers, without any mention as to where the photo came from

...and then there's the guy that was selling Modified Coffee Mugs with images lifted directly off our site....

and then there's guys who will take any image they can find and make reprints of it and sell them on ebay or at different racing/memorabila gatherings.

and then there's the newspaper guys who will take an image off our site and crop out the part with the logo and use it in their column rather than just call us up or email us and let us know that they would like to use a particular image (where if we are able to get permission, we'd gladly supply it.)

By the way, if you are wondering why we know the images originated by our site... You guessed it... because in most all photos that we've posted in the last 2 years, we have the 3w or some other obscure watermark embedded in each photo and in many cases they'll find the obvious one, but not the others.  Then when they post it, we are able to tell that it came from us because there will be the other 3W or whatever somewhere else.

Goes without saying but, we are very grateful for the original photographers and for those who held onto these great images throughout the years so that can have a sight at all.
09/30/07 Bruce Thomas That's a real shame things might have to come that one day. Personally I try my best to provide correct photographer info ect, if the picture I submit is one that i have bought through the years or took myself. Some time's I don't always have that info and try my best to remember, but what i do send to the vault is legit. (one's that i do own) And i do have a fair amount of pics, mostly from the 80's

I, among others, really enjoy the vault and would hate to see it go!

Thanks for all that you are doing 3wide to preserve the history of our sport, that we love so much.

Vault contributor, Bruce Thomas~
05/31/08 Rob This car was run at Syracuse by Scott. There is a picture of the car at Syracuse before the race on Richard's Speedstr site around the car are Scott, Ronnie, Ronnie's crew that served as Scott's Syracuse crew and there is a young guy furthest to the left in the crew that is Richard.

The Speedstr site lists it as 1985 but I think your 1984 date is correct.

I only wonder if instead of Ronnie it might be Scott in the car, since it does look taller than Ronnie, but he is wearing a helmet that Ronnie used so I am unsure.
