Comments: Looks like the Black Horse Racing Team decided to play the downforce game like the rest of them.   Back in the late 70's and early 80's a lot of teams were getting pretty creative with the rules and the way the story goes, the Norcia guys wanted to show them all that they could do it too.  Unfortunately, this really was the end of the era of using "stock" bodies on Modified "Stock" Cars.

01/27/07 3-Wide Hey Jeff M, is this car you were telling us about?
01/28/07 Kevin Mc Id bet the house and the dog that its from 1981.  Balough did his thing @ Syracuse in 1980. The next season they were coming up with new bodies every week. Every week was something newer and wilder. This body looks new and wild.

I think over the Winter after that season, the DIRT rule book was tightened
up and closed up the rules on body work and all the weird sheet metal fizzled out.
02/04/07 Paul Garzillo This was the period of altered bodies and angled roofs.  The Brenns, MCCaughey's 301 caddy, Billy Cannon, The "L" all went faster just by making downforce.  Sam was mad fast in this ride.

One night, he got out front early and lapped much of the field in this very car.   Thanks, 1st pic of this ride I've seen since I was there in person.
02/24/07 Jeff McClung Yes I am pretty sure this is it, yes there were some pretty unique creations around this time. I think the most exotic creation I saw was the car Billy Cannon had, this thing had the most internal sheet metal I have ever seen, it went in all different directions. I think he used ground effects technology in that car.
