Comments: After proving himself as a strong runner in the beautiful #55 black Sportsman Coupe, Danny jumped up to the modified ranks and on one special night, Danny put it all together in the Al Gerhum owned #21 and pulled off a big upset Modified Feature win at the Square.

An upset not because of Danny's driving ability, but you have to remember that this was at a time when there were some pretty stout teams running the square and they usually didn't leave much at the top for the other less funded teams.

Along with being a talent behind the wheel, Danny is one of the nicest guys to be around in the sport.  A few years after this picture was taken I worked with the Barry/Billy Schenk owned "A" Team with Danny as our driver.  He always made all members of the team feel appreciated and never let his frustration show as a driver and as a result, created a great environment to work in.  Danny also added his expertise behind the scene on many of the Trenton Mack owned efforts in the late 80's and into the 90's.

01/20/06 BOBBY FIORELLO ALL THE YEARS WORKING WITH LES KATONA, DANNY ALWAYS FOUND TIME TO CHAT WITH ME, NO MATTER HOW BUSY HE WAS,,

THANX FOR THE GREATEST TIMES AT THE DIRT TRACKS AND BEING A PART OF IT,
02/25/08 Harry Towne 1986 GUYS.. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
01.14.21 Edward Buchko Albert Gehrum was the owner and also a fantastic mentor! My name is Edward J. Buchko and Al went to Rochester New York and brought back a bare Troyer Chassis and I had along with my twin brother George we built it from ground up.

Building the engine, fabrication and design to flea markets picking up parts along the way headers, Franklin quick cage rear end, going to Tom Hager’s Trick stick, etc.

Al had many drivers Rich Hinkle, Billy Cannon, Nick Schlauch, Les Katona and Danny Klockner.

This car is the original Troyer chassis with the current body and paint 21.

The night the team won I was serving in the US Army in Germany. I never experienced that night but know and how hard it takes to reach photos with Harry Dee and I know I had a major part and very proud, honor and privileged for the experience!

“ You can take the man out of Dirt Modifieds but you can’t take the Dirt Modifieds out of the man!”

Danny was the most pleasant driver I worked with!

See you at a dirt track soon!
