This is a great photo. This car represents Saturday night short track racing across America. A regular weekend warrior waiting to go out and take on the competition. Looks like a heat race is out on the track, as the cars go streaking by in the picture.

No major sponsors a basic dirt modified and a dream was all that was needed.  The early 80's were decent times at Flemington, while the cars were going thru a major body and chassis evolution. Tom Carberry's car is just a cool looking, Saturday night special. The car itself has a basic body, drum brakes up front, open headers, and Big Block chevy power plant that looks like it gets the job done!

While Flemington Speedway had the big names and teams at the time. It was these small independent  racing teams that filled out the weekly field. The simpler times had so many cars each week a consi was needed. Some would make the main and a few would go home.

I'm not 100% sure but this looks like the offset car that Tom built. If it is it ended up in 81-82 or there abouts as the 31 of Greg Smith. If that is the case it's last ride was at East Windsor were it ended up upside down in turn 3.
