04.07.11 CHIP The car is#28, Tighe Scott was racing in the famous 1979 Daytona 500.  Scotty actually led a few laps and finished 7th (first car)1 lap down.  I'd like to ask Tighe about that race, ether he got a flat or a mishap during a pit stop Which put him down a lap, and I think he was leading when this happened. Tighe can you give us the story on what happened that day?
04.07.11 3Wide Tighe was running in the top 5...  Maybe even as high as second at one point I think.  When he came in to make his final pit stop (green flag), there was a lot of water in the stall immediately in front of his pit stall.  Now you have to remember that this was back in the day where pit road speed was unlimited, so they came in as fast as they could, stopped as fast as they could, and then left as fast as they could.

As Tighe came up on his stall with brakes applied, he slid through his spot due to the water left from the other car...  It turned into a very long pit stop and as a result, Tighe lost a few spots.

He made the Northeast Dirt track fans proud that day and those of us who were there wonder... "What if that water wasn't there...."
04.13.11 Mike Schusler Kool storey, I was watching a show on the History channel about NASCAR.  They were talking with "Tiger" Tom Piston.  He and Banjo Matthews built cars in the 70's. Well to make a long storey short, Tom mentioned that Tighe Scott killed one of their cars and was able to walk away with out a scratch.  Its nice to here stories like that.
