Comments: | Is it just me, or is there just something naturally cool about a Modified Stock car broadsliding through a corner? Few have "Broadslided" as well as Billy.... |

01/01/04 | Shennan | There is nothing more cool than broadsliding through a corner. |
01/01/04 | 3-Wide | Exactly my point.... |
01/09/04 | Bob Hummer Sr. | I'm with you Joe - Broadsliding a stock car was cool and there was no better place to see it done than Flemington. Billy the Kid sure did it and was exciting to watch but no one did it like "Stan the Man" Ploski at Flemington. |
01/09/04 | 3-Wide | I know there are many out there that wouldn't disagree with you on that! |
01/10/04 | Paul Garzillo | Totally Awesome shot off the 4th turn! Top 10 on the 'Vault'! Does anyone have a final total of feature winners at Flemington? I know Reading Speedway put out a book of its history, but what about Flemington? |
01/11/03 | 3-Wide | It might be available in one of the programs, or if not, I know that Vault Visitor Bill Skinner was putting together a list. Also, Steve Barrick (friend of The Vault from Program Dynamics) is working on a Flemington book, but I'm not sure of the release date. |
01/13/04 | Fred Voorhees | I believe Steve has a target date of sometime in the later stages of 2005. He has asked me to sit down sometime this Winter and we would hash things back and forth for my contribution to the project. |
02/28/04 | Paul Garzillo | Nice guy Billy the Kid invited me and my two boys to meet him and visit his shop recently, and all I can say is that the guy is awesome. In an age when the sports world is filled with ego's and undesireable role models that are not accessable to the average fan, Billy Pauch is at the top of his game, as well as a true American hero. |
02/28/04 | 3-Wide | I couldn't of said it better myself...
allthough I tried on the picture that appears on Page 1 of the Miscellaneous Section with
of picture of Billy and my kids. I think I told the story somewhere else, but dopey
me took my 7 year old up to Billy's Open House this year. Problem is that I got the
date's wrong and went up the week before! Billy, his wife, and Billy Jr were
gracious and let us hang for a little while as Billy worked on an old Oldsmobile Classic
convertible and Billy Jr worked on his pick-up. I can't imagine the kind of pressure that Billy and now Billy Jr find themself under from time to time, but I think Paul's decription above pretty much covers it all. Thanks for the last 40 years Pauch's, and here's to another 40! |
11/20/04 | D.J. Everett | This was one very scary car for many
competitors at Flemington. Billy either tied or came close to setting win records in this
car at Flemington. He came the closest to winning Syracuse in this car out of all the
other cars he has run. I know he finished 2nd one year in the DeBlasio #5 at Syracuse one
year, but he actually sat on the pole and was in contention to win until he got into a
tangle with Danny Johnson another year. I do hope he tries to win the modified portion of Syracuse before he decides to hang it up since he has just about won everything else there. |
