07/05/03 | Kevin B. | I don't remember the half mile track walls being in this straight and clean condition during that place in time? |
07/06/03 | Nandi (Palmco Repair) | I bought the same picture. I am pretty sure Billy built that car too. |
07/06/03 | Jeff McClung | Its the mile at Nazereth for sure, the car might be a modified Pauch style Cimko chassis, Im not sure, awsome none the less |
08/10/03 | Bill Hanna | I do believe this is from the very first race at Nazareth after Vacari rebuilt the track. If I recall correctly, Billy finished second to Kenny Brightbill in this car when they raced against Syracuse ????? Bill Hanna, Easton, PA |
09/05/03 | Todd Lewis | I seem to think that this car was towed to Syracuse by
Bob Travagline I will have to check with my Dad |
12/17/03 | Fred Voorhees | Billy did in fact build this car, though it could have roots in the Cimpko chassis. I remember this car well. I remember being in the pits when it was debuted for a shake down run on a Saturday night. In one of its first actual races, it won the season ending 200 lapper at Flemington and yes, I do believe that Billy did take second to Kenny Brightbill in the Nazareth event that was up against Syracuse. I chose to attend Nazareth that year |
09/06/04 | D.J. Everett | Yes, this is the Nazareth mile in Oct. of '82.
Brightbill did win with Pauch finishing second and I remember Carl Collis either finishing
3rd or somewhere in the top 5 as the top 5 guys pulled on the front stretch and remember
Collis being there. They did run against Syracuse that year. I believe
Syracuse was paying 50K or 55K to win and Nazareth paid 60K to win. It even
attracted Jack Johnson to run at Nazareth and a couple of guys from Texas. This was
the same weekend that an open competition sprint car race was run and was a 25 lapper that
paid 10K to win I think and was won by Frankie Kerr. The race was aligned like the
Indy 500 where each row was 3 abreast. Needless to say, half of the field never made
it through turn one as I remember at least 3 cars flipping with others spinning and
winding up against the wall on the first lap. What a weekend! D.J. Everett - Mooresville, NC |
