Comments: During what were my favorite years at Flemington, I watched George Ault drive his white Pinto to a couple of wins in the Sportsman Division and based on talent, the time was right for George to move up to Modifieds.  It was around this same time that guys like George, Pete Madsen, Al Michalchuk and others who were showing their ability to win in the Sportsman ranks that Paul Kuhl had the 3 win rule which meant if you had won a total of 3 Sportsman Features, you needed to move to Modified the following year.

George had some real strong runs, but I don't think he ever claimed victory in a modified feature event.  George is pictured above in a beautiful little Mustang bodied modified.  (Speaking of Al Michalchuk, that looks like Al talking with Mark Yaple in front of the 11-7.)

Having already become a threat to win a modified feature, George was definitely on everyone's radar as a star of the future when during a heat race, he was involved in a violent flip in the first turn at Flemington Speedway.  Sadly, I think it was the last time that George raced, cutting short a very promising career, of one of our Favorites in The Vault.

10.17.09 BOBBY FIORELLO YES A VERY PROMISING DRIVER TO SAY THE LEAST - ALWAYS BALLS OUT DRIVING - VERY FAST, SMOOTH, BUT LADY LUCK WASN'T ON HIS SIDE, ENDING HIS RACING WAY TOO SOON,  WE HAD A LOT OF FUN WITH HIM IN THE PITS.
THANX FOR THE MEMORIES GEORGE,
BOBBY FIORELLO,, K-3,,
10.18.09 Tony This car brings back some memories. George and Fran Guerra owned this car when George went to the modifieds. The body on this car was from a 66 Mustang GT. The car was complete less the engine and drive line, the rest was scrapped. ( all thats left from the Mustang is the 4 piston brake calipers which I have ) I guess thats what happened to all the coupes and sedans.

This car was wrecked at Flemington, someone's water hose blew in the 3rd turn, George hit the fence hard, bent the frame.

Two weeks later we built a new car using a Terry Ebersol frame. First Friday night at East Windsor a wreck in the heat race, but not much damage, then rain. Next night at Flemington was the big wreck when the car jumped Archie Myers' wheel, That totaled that car. See the wreck in the double pick up.
10.24.09 Mark That's me for sure talking with Alex. The year was 1975 and may very well be the Flemington opener by the looks of the 11-7.
11.05.09 Dana Wise I am so grateful for all of these pictures and memories. We lost George (my
step-dad) this past week, and it is a comfort to see him in pictures with
what he loved so much in this world...racing.
