05/10/08 | Jeff McBride | I remember this race real well. My father (Lee Mcbride )
finished second that night to Gary. I was sitting in the first turn. This was one of the better sportsman races ran. Both drivers started around the middle of the pack and worked there way up to the front by the 5 or 6 lap. There were a lot of lead changes in the final 9 laps. When the white flag was out Lee and Gary were running side by side going into turn 2. It stayed that way up to the checkered flag. That race was so close to call that in the end it was Gary that won. I have the photo finish of that race. Both cars were side by side at the finish. Gary's front bumper on his car stuck out farther then my fathers and that's what gave him the win. There were many good races at Flemington , But this is one race I will never forget. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES !!! |
05/13/08 | Garry Boekhout | I remember this night very well!! When I won, Danny Smith run up the front of our truck and over the roof onto the bed. He was on air because Lee and I diced so long. He was one of the smartest mechanics I ever knew. Thanks for the memories Garry Boekhout, now from Fulton Kentucky. |
