04/03/07 Brian C. Loutrel If memory serves me right, the year is 1974, when Beavers won the New
Jersey state modified championship with this car and a Mustang bodied car.  This car is also the one that Stan Ploski was driving the week before the Flemington 200 that year after Beavers switched to the Norcia 81 Mulligan coupe. The throttle stuck on the car and Stan and crashed into the first turn wall, breaking his arm.
04/04/07 Bill Hanna Hey Hank Winecker, help me on this one.

Didn't Bobby Pickell also win one night @ Flemington in this car. It might have been his last victory at the "square" if memory serves me right.
04/04/07 3-Wide Here you go Bill:  Hank just emailed me this one today!

Looks like the same car as above with a different hood and different paint.  Hank says that the photo above was Bob Pickell's last win and it occurred on on June 30th, 1973.  I hope to add the picture on its own page soon.
11/11/07 Jon R. This car was run every Friday and Sunday night at East Windsor. It was unique for its time in that it had Coney Shocks on the front and a torsion bar rear suspension. Coach (Jim Horton Sr.) named this car Faron after Faron Young.

This was the team car with the Mustang that Beavers ran for Coach (Jim Horton Sr.). This car was generally used as a back up to the Mustang at Flemington. Ploski ran it one night in a 100 lapper at Flemington but crashed in the 3rd and 4th turn with it, taking out the entire rear end of the car.
That same night Beavers blew a motor in the Mustang with around 2-5 laps remaining while leading the race. We worked all night and Sunday and had Faron ready for Windsor on Sunday and both cars ready for a special show at Flemington on Monday.
11/12/07 3-Wide Thanks for the first hand info Jon.  Sorry that I don't know, but who is Faron Young?
11/13/07 Jon Faron Young was a Country Western Singer. Died in 1996 (Committed Suicide while suffering from cancer) and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000. He was from Louisiana and they also called him the singing sheriff. Coach loved him. We had maroon T shirts with the Gremlin on the back and over top of the car, was the name Faron.

The car was originally blue but then painted to match the Mustang.

I happened upon your site when just for kicks I Googled my buddy Bob Rossell, so I could give him a hard time about how famous he is. Don't you know he'd love all the attention. Not really!! You had to love the cars he built for himself, Cagle, Brenn and others.

Memories are great!!!!! I have bookmarked your site to restore my passion for the Northeast dirt scene in the 60's, 70's and early 80's.
It is sad things have to change.

Oh yeh, I think I still have one of the shirts.

Keep posting pictures and info, it's great!!!!!
Thanks,
Jon
