Comments: Comment from Kevin:  Fall was always great at Wall Stadium. All the Northeast "Invaders" showed up when their tracks closed. This particular photo was Turkey Derby III. John Betts from McBetts racing engines is tuning the engine.

04/28/07 Blaine Lucas What a great pick of "Chargin'" Charlie Jarzomback. I remember him and Jim Hendrickson and Freddy Harbach would come down to Wall for the Turkey Derby. The Long Island Invaders always put on a great show.
09/03/07 Edward I remember going to Riverhead, Islip and Freeport to see CHARGIN' Charlie rip up the other driver's nights. He preformed the best when he was at Islip and Maynard Troyer came into town for the BIG ONE!  Artie Tappen, Bill Wagner, Maynard, Geoff Bodine and the rest of the Maniac Mods would try like Hell to put Charlie in the back of the field but, Charlie would have no part of that.

By the time the Crossed flags flew he already was in the top 10 and coming on STRONG. Never involved (directly) in a wreck, although some race fans will argue that fact. He would end up in the winners circle, not by a bumper, but by the front straight away.

This was a man the influenced my childhood greatly!
Thanks Charlie

09/10/07 Michael Jaworecki What a great picture. Charlie was my hero growing up on Long Island.. He did pretty good outside Long Island too. Wall, Seekonk, Waterford, Stafford, Thompson Trenton, Pocono. I can't believe this picture is 30 years old. Most of the time in home built chassis that drove Nascar nuts.
10/10/07 Thom L It was always good to see Charlie J race. Head down, remember how he drove ?, and on the gas. I have a victory lane photo that I need to scan in from when he won the Craden State Classic, beleive it was '81

Is that Rod Cunliffe's coupe in the background ?
12/26/08 CowboysFN Not sure if Thom is correct about the year (1981) charlie j winning the garden state classic, but i was there and remember gil hearne chasing him all night long in the jim soucie #17. first season that gil didn't win a feature.

Seemed that charlie j was toying with him. everytime gil would get close, charlie would just drive away. charlie was a truck driver for northville oil, in long island. i worked for northville in linden ,n.j. and went to the charlie j memorial at riverhead thanks to the company providing tickets.
