Scarpatti in a car that I think was owned by Tony K. Tony's coupes and sedans were
driven in the mid 70's by Lee McBride. This car was often driven briefly by Al
Michalchuk after Al's white #292 Modified Gremlin was destroyed in a flip that landed him
outside of the park at Flemington in 1977. Got to see Carmen recently at Lawrence Engineering in Trenton, NJ when I was purchasing some alcohol for my kids Go-Kart. Stop by and see Carmen, Les and Roger for all your racecar needs! |

07/25/06 | Jeff | I know that Tony K. always wanted his name on the car. This is what is not right to me. Check out the other pictures you have and you will see his name on the car at all times or some type of lettering. This car has nothing on it. This could be his car after he got out of racing, but i'm not sure. You wouldn't know what year this was taken do you? Can you post this on the site to see if anybody has an idea. If so let me know , because this is a mystery to me. |
07/25/06 | John Mc | If you look closely in that shot of Carmen Scarpati in the red #11 I think you'll notice some similarities w/ this car & Brenn's #24 coupe. I'm pretty sure this is a former Brenn car. |
07/26/06 | 3-Wide | Here's a car that was sent in that was a former Brenn Coupe. Not sure if this is the one you were thinking of or not... Also, do you remember if Tony K was the owner of the #11 driven by Carmen in the top photo? |
07/31/06 | Tom McDonough | This (the #11 pictured at the top of this page) was Ken Brenn Jr'.s rookie
car owned by a friend of Lee McBride and Tony K named Curve Miller. (The picture of
the number 1 coupe above is not the same coupe). Curve Miller bought his coupe
directly from the Brenns. Even though Tony K. did not have any ownership in this car he worked on it and took care of it like it was his own. Lee drove this car the year before [1977]. It had the original coupe body number 11 painted white for half the year then repainted red the rest of the year. I think it was Lee's last year driving, the next year he was an East Windsor Track Offical. At the end of the 1978 season [The year the picture was taken] Curve Miller hooked up with Rick Holden. The 11 car was stripped for parts [rear, powerstearing, etc.] The useable parts were used on a new I think it was a Tobias frame that came out for the 1979 season. This was also number 11, With a Pinto body painted white with blue lettering. [It was a sportsman car] To answer your question about the coupe I think the coupe body and frame were scrapped. [I use to help Tony K. and then Rick Holden.] |
