05/30/06 John Armbruster (I think...) I definitely remember Ray's crash into the turn 1 crossover gate; we were sitting in section 6. He hit it straight on and knocked the gate right off it's hinges.
05/31/06 Bob Becker Joe, I don't think that's Stan in the 707. He was in Brenn's car in 1972. That looks like Sammy Beavers driving the Donkey. Sammy was much bigger than Stan.
05/31/06 3-Wide The driver info was provided with the photo and I didn't really look inside the #707 until you pointed out Bob, and I have to agree... it's not Stan!
06/01/06 Walter Onora I think Pat Whoglemuth drove the No. 1 very briefly. Yes ,Sammy Beavers was one of many drivers who drove the Deasey "707" during the early seventies.
06/01/06 Brian Loutrel This photo is from early 1972 and the driver of the Deasey 707 is definitely Sammy Beavers. Sammy started the season in the 707 but switched to the King Chevrolet 121 by the summertime of 1972.
06/18/06 Glenn Grafton By the looks of those valve covers, it appears that Deasey had a Boss 429 Ford Nascar motor in the 707 that year.
06/19/06 3-Wide Interesting that you noticed that because as a friend (Motorhead Mike) pointed out to me, most photos of the #707 showed a hood that wrapped around the top sides of the engine to protect the valve covers as they weren't too plentiful!  Here's a shot where you can see the engine and I suspect that it wasn't too long after this shot that a better hood was designed and installed...  just guessing on all of this, but it kinda makes sense...
07/02/06 John Reuter Could this be Jan Opperman in the Donkey.  I remember he sat in the car for a few weeks at Windsor while the seat was vacant before or after Beavers was in it.
Thanks John Reuter.
07/03/06 3-Wide As Bob Becker pointed out, the guy in the #707 in this photo looks pretty big - too big to be Jan, but I also remember Jan in the car at EWS right around 1971 or so.
08/24/06 Tony A The engine in the 707 is the FORD 427 SOHC (PRONOUNCED SOCK, SOHC is for SINGLE OVER HEAD CAM) or other wise known as the CAMMER . Thanks, Tony A
09/25/06 Paul Madsen This car was also crashed in the powder puff derby, when it got collected up in a wreck with mother Ruth Madsen between 1&2.
01/14/07 Frank Thomas This is the 429 boss engin and it's Sammy driving at Flemington in 1972. Frank Thomas crew #707
01/17/07 3-Wide Frank, how about a list of other drivers who you know took a ride behind the wheel of the Deasey #707 back in the day....  Thanks!
09/21/07 Bill Campbell john wagner was the 1st driver of the car ...   dick havens drove it also for about 5 weeks when him and taylor werent getting along...  ray neary and kenny wismer also drove it..  built in 1969 with a L88 BLOCK 427 fuelie heads and hilborne injectors...funny thing happened years later i stopped at danny pauls gas station for gas and spotted that motor from the gas pumps sitting against the wall in his garage... knew it was my dads old motor the moment i seen it... danny comfirmed that.. lol

i remember that crash (as mentioned above)... pic was in the area auto racing news... my dad had to clip the front end at the firewall and completely rebuild the front end.... anyone got anymore pics of my dads old mod ? if so please send via email to angbill@ptd.net
thank you !  Bill Campbell
09/22/07 Bill Campbell Sorry ! i was wrong about what wreck my dad had to rebuild the whole front end because of..
i just talked to him via phone.. He said Wismer hit the wall at Nazareth very hard did 3 endo's and 6 barrell rolls and as 2 tow trucks were lifting the car up everyone was standing around saying that car seen its last race so he made it a point to go to Nazareth the very next weekend to run again...sounds just like him... lol
If ya told him it couldn't be done he'd make it a point to do it...
